Client Case Studies

NIRH: he National Institute For Reproductive Health (NIRH) works directly with state and local reproductive health, rights, and justice organizations and allied groups to protect and advance equitable access to reproductive health care.

Strategic planning implementation guidance

We believe in building capacity and ownership so that folks can create their own solutions and ideal reality. Keeping this in mind, our team stepped in to facilitate the strategic planning implementation for NIRH. For us the goal was simple: We prioritized engagement with all key stakeholders to create an implementation plan that was extensively customized to suit the needs and complement the inner working and dynamics of the organization.

BEJP: The Brooklyn Economic Justice Project (BEJP) is a community-based economic justice accelerator that informs local economic decision-making, educates and trains community members, and invests in their ideas for economic liberation.

Program design and development

We believe community design is more than creating things, it’s also harnessing the power that already exists in the community by supporting the folks that are already doing important work on the ground. This is reflected directly in the way our team facilitated the design of BEJP’s programming. We encouraged a collaborative process that involved the cohort members sharing their expertise, strengths and networks. The existing assets of individual members became the community resources for the cohort.

MVP: The Movement Voter Project (MVP) works to strengthen progressive power at all levels of society by helping donors – big and small – support the best and most promising local community-based organizations in key states, with a focus on youth and communities of color.

Organizational design & board development

Our practice involves using a design-infused process, rather than a design-led one, which means that we orient ourselves to our clients, become facilitators and build with them to achieve their vision. For the Movement Voter Project, that has meant supporting a fast-growing nonprofit startup navigating increased demand, rapidly evolving culture and the recruitment and establishment of the first senior leadership team.

We act as executive advisors to the CEO, manage the myriad of other organizational consultants, help with rapid-response for urgent new projects and facilitate team meetings.
